Columbia Presbyterian has a very active youth ministry that exists so that all teens we meet with have the opportunity to enter into a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our goal is not only to minister to those teenagers, but also to equip our parents and our whole church family to encourage that lifelong faith in Jesus in our youth.

We are guided by the word, “L.I.F.E.R.S.”

L- Life Long Disciples:  We are tired of seeing too many Christian teens leaving home and shedding their faith as soon as they are out our doors.  We want to prepare them to be Jesus followers in every stage of life.

I- Intentional Planning:  Our goal is not to do programs because we are supposed to.  If any part of our programming is not guiding teens into a deeper relationship with Jesus than it is not worth doing.

F- Family:  Our ministry is centered around the family.  We don’t believe that “the church” is the primary place where faith is taught.  It is taught and modeled at home.  Our job is to equip every part of our church body (the family of God) to minister to the children and youth in our community.  We all have a calling to model faith for our youth.

E- Equipping:  Our youth pastor’s focus is not just on teaching kids.  Rather our hope is that we are equipping our own adults and teenagers to be ministers to our youth.

R - Relational:  We try to create opportunities for our kids to form relationships with each other and with significant adults.  Most people don’t encounter Jesus through teaching, but through others. In an age when our kids are over scheduled, flooded with technology, and totally stressed out we try to create a place with deeper connections.

S - Service:  Jesus came into the world and lived a life of sacrificial service that tried to bring God’s justice into our world.  We cannot claim to be followers and not do the same.  We try to provide programs that engage teens with a sacrificial lifestyle that is centered on others rather than on themselves.
