adama dioufRev. Adama Diouf is coming to Columbia. He will be with us from the night of November 11 through the morning of November 15. He will be with us for all worship services on November 13. There will be an all church Lasagna supper on November 12 in the fellowship hall. Please mark your calendars to attend this so you can reconnect with Adama.

Rev. Diouf is World Vision's Christian Commitments Advisor for West Africa, one of the most challenging contexts in the world in terms of poverty, spiritual need and freedom of religious expression. Islam and branches of fundamentalist Islam is practiced by most people in the region, with other religions usually facing severe restrictions. Adama lives in Bamako, Mali where he has worked since January, 2009 from World Vision's West Africa Christian Commitments Center.

Rev. Diouf brings a significant background culturally, religiously and educationally to the position of Christian Commitments Advisor. Adama is a native of Senegal, grew up in the Muslim faith and became a Christian in Senegal as a university student. He holds a graduate degree in Chemistry and has taught chemistry. He also has degrees in Theology and Leadership, and is working toward his PhD in Old Testament and Leadership.

In Senegal, Adama served as pastor at the Baptist Church of Thies, Senegal from 1994 – 2008, as World Vision's Christian Commitments Director from 1994 – 2004 and as President of Senegal's Bible Seminary from 2005 – 2008. He was a professor of Old Testament and non-Christian Religion at ITES Senegal. He helped to start 8 new churches, participated in connecting World Vision Senegal to all Senegal churches and led new World Vision Christian Commitments initiatives. The institutions formed through these initiatives include the Barthimee Christian Hospital which serves over 50,000 people each year and the Jericho Ministry, an integrated witness ministry that has led over 950 people to Christ. He has played a role in establishment of the Sahel Christian Center for Leadership, a graduate school serving 6 French speaking countries, strengthening Christian leadership throughout West Africa. In addition, Adama started a Christian School in Senegal in 2002 called the John Huffman School which has now grown to 12 schools and serves 2,950 pupils a year.

Adama and his wife Sylvie have three young children and have welcomed additional children into their family.
