Children

CM logo mockup heart 2Welcome to the world of children at Columbia!  Our families come in all shapes and sizes but they all have the common role of nurturing and influencing the children they are in relationship with.  Our efforts in ministry with children and families relate to the spiritual formation of children and our purpose is to support families as they carry out this important role, encourage practices which enhance it, offer how-to lessons, and provide opportunities where families can explore, practice and expand a faith-filled life together. Purpose of Children’s Ministries: To help kids grow a life-long faith in Jesus Christ.

Nursery

Our Nursery serves our little ones from birth-24 months at both  worship services. Staffed by loving, caring volunteers on Sunday mornings, the nursery is a warm nurturing place where a newborn or toddler can experience God’s love.
Nursery care is also provided by paid, trained caregivers for a variety of classes and events that happen mid-week.

Stepping Stones – Age 2 to Pre-Kindergarten

During the school year we offer traditional style individual classes for each age group. Lessons are centered around Bible stories and designed to engage young children in active learning through the use of fun activities and interesting gadgets.

Preschool - 2 Yrs. to Kindergarten

We share simple Bible stories & related activities in a relaxed setting.

Elementary Age (252 Kids) - 1st to 5th Grade

Kids will join their families in worship and then be dismissed after the Children's Sermon. In this class they’ll learn every story in the Bible points to Jesus – and what that means for them!  On Communtion Sundays, children will remain with their families during the worship service.

Children's Message

All children are encouraged to join their families in worship.  They will be dismissed to class after the children's sermon which occurs about 15 minutes into the service.

Children in Worship

Children are a part of our worshiping community. Their presence is based on the biblical premise that children are vital members of our church family.  Through regular attendance and the example and support of their parents and church family, children are introduced to the life-changing wonderful experience of worship.  Children are welcome at any of our worship services.  The contemporary service is especially popular with many children and their families and includes a children’s time.

K2 Live - Wednesday

A midweek activity program on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for children in grades 3-5.  The kids gather for fun activities, snacks, games, singing, worship, service projects, field trips and a year-end overnight retreat.  Through these activities, kids discover more about God, themselves, and each other.  K2 Live runs from early September until mid-May.

Children’s Choir - Wednesday

Children (grades 2-5) have an opportunity to learn great music that is also fun to sing. This choir is a part of the music leadership for worship several times a year.  It meets right before K2 Live on Wednesdays from 5:00-5:30 p.m.

Family Events

We often have special events for families. Fellowship events like picnics or special seasonal celebrations, classes relating to various areas of interest to parents, service opportunities for families to engage in or worship experiences that involve all ages.

Summer Events

Our Vacation Bible School is the last full week of July, for children 4 years - current 5th graders. This is an exciting week for all as we immerse ourselves in God’s word through a specific “fun” theme. Many of our middle school and high schoolers love to get involved in leadership as well as many adults.  Click here for VBS information.
