Columbia Presbyterian Church
Adult Faith Formation

At Columbia Presbyterian Church, we encourage each person to enter into a life-changing and ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ.  The Adult Ministry Team comes alongside to nurture adults in that life journey, with the goal of maturity in Christ:  “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” (Colossians 1:28)

Reading Revelation Responsibly  - Led by Dr. Andrew Talbert

Dr. Andrew Talbert  Have you ever found yourself stumped by the book of Revelation?  Perhaps no book of the Bible has caused more confusion and controversy than this book.  This class provides insights and tools from history and theology, so that we can read Revelation with the first century church today. We will cover some of the more difficult aspects of the book to make it easier to read and worship with Revelation.

Weekly
9:00am in the Library
Bible Class - Led by Al Johnston

This is an exercise in letting God talk to us. It is designed for people who have tried Bible classes and felt like they did not know enough to participate, or who never felt like God was speaking to them. It is also designed for people new to the church to get to know God better and develop some new friends. Contact Al Johnston, 509-823-3808, for more information.

 Wednesday Evening

January 10 - February 7 in the Fellowship Hall
Neighboring Faith - Led by Pastor Fitz Neal

How do we be good neighbors to those around us who practice a different faith?  We will spend 5 weeks exploring what the major world religions believe and how they practice those beliefs.  So much of what we hear about the world religions comes through hearsay or media filters that obscure them, rather than enlightening Christians to how to respect, understand, and interact with other religions.  We'll use a book of the same title: Neighboring Faiths -- as a basis for our explorations.

Ash Wednesday, February 14,  7-8pm
GodSpeed, the movie

Beautifully shot on location in Scotland, Godspeed features Matt Canlis, friend of Geordie Ziegler’s and transplanted American, following God’s call to be a parish minister.  Along the way he learns the art of being present to the holiness of people and place that surrounds us.

February 21 - March 28 in the Fellowship Hall
GodSpeed – Led by Pastor Geordie Ziegler

If you saw the movie and are intrigued for more, come alone with fellow pilgrims seeking a better way of being human – at Godspeed. This Lenten Series will help each one of us learn the truth that there is no place without the potential for unearthing holiness.  Over six weeks we consider the ordinary ingredients of everyday lives – place, people, pace, identity, stability, names.  We will discover that these are not unimportant, but are the only places where our life in Christ can be lived.  As the poet Mary Oliver writes, the hardest work of all is “standing still and learning to be astonished.”

Come early and enjoy dinner and fellowship anytime between 5:30 and 6:15.  Suggested donation is $5 per meal.  Gluten free options are available.

Journey

Journey is a great way to learn more about Columbia Presbyterian Church.  Whether you are simply interested in learning more about Columbia or you are contemplating membership, we invite you to join us. Register for the February 11 or April 29 class.

 Tim's Bible Club

The New Year is here and you are invited to join Tim Mauer and friends as they read the Bible together in 2018.

Tim has made a new reading list this year.  As before, there will be an Old Testament and New Testament reading each day.  New this year will   include a Psalm every other day.  Also new is a reduced Old Testament reading list to lighten the amount to read each day.  Sundays are a day off to rest or get caught up.

Whether you’ve never read with us, or have joined every year, please join with us in 2018 to meet with God every day and get to know Him better through reading His Word.

Back by popular demand – the daily readings will be available on the CPC app!

If you are interested in joining the club, please sign up in the Gathering Area, or contact Tim Mauer   directly by phone (360-910-7048), or email   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Tim will add you to the list and provide you with all the information you will need.

And remember our motto -
“We don’t have any meetings or committees - we just read the Bible.”
